greys anatomy the musical event..... can the cast sing???

New Post

Last night Grey's Anatomy delivered a powerful episode. Callie (played by Sara Ramirez) got into a car accident while arguing with Arizona. Arizona had just proposed marriage and a truck came out of nowhere. It was one of those things you didn't see coming until the moment before. Arizona was fine, but because Callie wasn't wearing her seatbelt she went through the windshield. Sara Ramirez (being on Broadway and winning a tony) did most of the singing and had an amazing voice. She carried the episode. Her acting and especially her lipsyncing was by far the best of the cast. She sang Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol, and the Story by Brandi Carlile. She also sang a good chunk of the other songs with the cast joining in. Almost everyone sang except the Chief, Derek, and Christina. Even Teddy and her ill husband sang as well as Alex and the obgyn. Addison returned to try and keep Callie's baby alive, she didn't sing either. The most emotional and by far the best scene was when Callie sang the story, she acted amazing there. Most of it she was looking at her body on a hospital bed, a spirit outside of her soul. The episode was well done and they tied songs from the past seven years of the show into the story line of saving her. They didn't make it predictable, I thought she would die for sure, but she lived. Although from the promo of next week it looks like the baby will not. This was by far the best episode of the season, I hope they can produce more like this.

Besides Sara, Chyler Leigh (Lexie) sang Just Breathe by Anna Nalick and did pretty well. Dr. Bailey sang good too. The only people who had a little trouble were Meredith, Teddy's husband and Owen. But they weren't horrible by any means. I definitely recommend buying the story, chasing cars, and just breathe. The rest of the soundtrack is alright, but those are the best songs.
