just started reading the mermaid chair by sue monk kidd. I recommend it. It is about a middle aged woman in an unhappy marriage who goes to visit her old hometown when her mother cuts off her own finger purposefully. She also mourns her father who died when she was nine of a boat explosion while she is there and finally she falls in love with a monk named Brother Thomas. It is very interesting.
