Double Life Chapter 4
He wakes up from his deep slumber and reality smacks him in the face. He remembers his dream vividly and says "I can't even have a damn dream!" Then he goes to his refirgerator, grabs the carton of milk and takes the fruit loops on the counter and simultaneously pours milk into his mouth as well as fruit loops from the box. Then he leaves the house as silent as a mouse and goes for a cigarette. The cigarette calms him and makes him go loopy, but in a good way. He knows it is terrible for him and he is trying to quit, but there is no natural high that gives him this happy feeling. While he smokes he feels completely at ease and totally forgets the problems plaguing him in reality. But after he has his last drag, drops the cigarette to the ground, and smushes it in he is totally different. He comes back from an alternate universe and realizes that he is unhappy living this double life. After five years it just isn't working anymore. He begins to list the qualities of each of his wives in his mind and he realizes what one lacks the other has.. He wishes the were meshed together into one perfect person. Knowing this is impossible, it is obvious he has to choose which life to keep and which to give up. Or maybe he doesn't have to. Why does he have to chose to stick with either of them at all?
