poem

New Post

I wish this was real
It's just a dream
But I like to pretend
That it isn't

You are there
I can see you clearly
Your blond hair and perfect smile
Why did you have to leave?

I wish things were different
Like I see now
I will miss you terribly
When I wake up I go back to reality

Its crazy here without you
I wish I could hear your voice again
Seeing you in that hospital bed,
Looking so lifeless

I couldn't take it
I didn't see you take your last breath
But I cried all damn day
So did everyone

You did see it coming
No one else did
It was a total shock
But you are in a better place

We all try to go on without you
It isn't easy
The coffin being lowered
Shoveling earth on to you.

We have lots of memories together
We always had fun
Goodbye for a while
I'll be seeing you again

We wonder what went wrong
Though we will never know
If only we could have stopped you
But we can't change the past

Family keeps us going
I heard these words hundreds of times
"I am sorry for your  loss."
Eventually it becomes annoying

We still celebrate your birthday
I learn something new about you
We cry and sob for you
As great as your life was, it shouldn't have ended so soon.

Tell me what you think, this is based on truth, about the death of my grandmother this year.
